This week’s W.O.W. is his highly rated, easy drinking Spanish red blend from vineyards that have been in the same family since 1771. Certified organic since 2002, this is a “No Brainer” warm weather red.
2013 Los Frailes, Monastrell/Garnacha
90 Points, The Wine Advocate: “A 70/30 blend fermented separately in stainless steel vats and matured for four months in used barriques and a further ten months in cement vats. The nose shows good intensity and certain elegance a mixture of red berries, some fennel, Mediterranean herbs and spices. The palate is medium-bodied, with very fine tannins, clean, delineated flavors and good freshness. A very good Mediterranean blend at a great price.”
When you’ve finished your first glass, you’ll definitely want another. Great on its own and pairs well with burgers, beef and barbeque. At this price, you’ll want to grab two.
