Red Jasper is known metaphysically as a stone of vibrancy and endurance. The 2013 Raats Red Jasper is all that and more. Complex and structured, it’s loaded with dark fruit flavors with a hint of tobacco and dark chocolate. Another gem from Raats Family Wines, internationally known as a New World leader in the production of Cabernet Franc.
2013 Raats, Red Jasper
Stellenbosch, South Africa
“A blend of 85% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec and 2.5% each of Merlot and Petit Verdot. Thus far, it represents the largest proportion of Cabernet Franc. Raised for 16 months in French oak (20% new), it has a gorgeous nose, quite regal with intermingling red and black fruit, minerals, touches of black truffle coming through in the glass. The palate is very well balanced, fleshy in the mouth with fine acidity and a composed and harmonious finish defined by the citric acidity. This is another wine from Bruwer Raats with great potential.” 92 Points: Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
