Beer is a huge part of American culture, whether it’s enjoyed at a sporting event or on the front porch on a warm summer’s night. A new trend is to drink beer after a meal as a dessert. There are many kinds of beer to choose from; here’s a quick list you may like to start with.
S’mores are a classic dessert favorite especially during the summer. Luckily for us, Saranac Brewery has come out with a S’more Porter. Its alcohol content is 6.2% which will allow you to get a nice buzz along with the sweet taste of chocolate and marshmallows.
Next up is the Tired Hands Brewing Co. / Omnipollo Milkshake IPA. This one is interesting because there are different flavors of milkshake that you can try until you find your favorite. They have varieties that are creamy, fruity, and both! This is an absolute crowd pleaser that’s perfect for your sweet tooth craving.
One of the more unique dessert beers is Charles Wells Brewing Company’s Banana Bread Beer. At 5.2% alcohol content this is not the strongest beer, which is perfect for a light dessert after a big meal. The smoothness of this treat is unmatched and will leave you craving for more.
If you watch the Food Network, you have probably heard of voodoo doughnuts. Rogue Ales & Spirits has created a Voodoo Doughnut Series, which if it even remotely compares to the doughnuts themselves, will be incredible. Rogue Ales is also responsible for the Siracha Stout which is another very intriguing flavor.
This next beer will catch your eye just because of the company that makes it. New Belgium paired with Ben and Jerry’s to create the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ale. This blonde ale will make you feel like you are inside the ice cream store itself. The beer is sweet and has strong notes of cookie dough.
These are just a few of the dessert beers on the market that you may want to try but there are many more. After trying a couple, ask your local retailer about other flavors to see which you like the best.
