This week’s W.O.W. is a highly rated, Wine Spectator Top 100 red from one of Italy’s oldest and most underestimated wine regions, Molise. The grapes are sourced from the top sites in the Ramitello vineyards from 50 year old vines. It’s aged in French oak for about 18 months and another year in the bottle before release.
2011 Di Maio Norante, Ramitello Rosso
90 Points, Wine Spectator: “The up-front mulberry and plum fruit is ripe and fleshy in this balanced red, with polished tannins. Notes of licorice string, graphite, smoke and grilled mushroom push through mid-palate and on the finish. Drink now through 2021.”
Made from Montepulciano and Aglianico, this wine is delicious on its own and, at this price, a wonderful addition for all of your holiday celebrations!
