This week we an incredible value for our white wine lovers…a delicious Spanish grape Macabeo (aka Viura), sourced from 50 to 100 year old vines. The families and farmers of Calatayud have been meticulously maintaining these vines for decades. The result, some of the oldest vineyards in Spain. Where else in the world can you get a wine, from 100 year old vines for under $10?? Calatayud was one of my favorite stops in Spain and this wine is one of the best value finds of my trip and probably in our shop!
Albada Old Vine Macabeo
Bursting at the seams with peach, nectarine, banana, and Meyer lemon. This little gem is completely unoaked, spending 130 days in concrete tanks on its own lees. The result is a textured, rich and creamy wine with juicy citrus and stone fruit and bracing minerality. A steal for the price!
