White Wines:

2015 Claude Riffault, Sancerre “Les Boucauds”
Loire Valley,

92 Points, The Wine Advocate:
“From 10- to 50-year-old vines on marls and clays over Kimmeridgian limestone (terres blanches), all located around the domaine in Sury-en-Vaux, the 2015 Sancerre les Boucauds is a very clear, fresh and aromatic flavored wine that was partly fermented in stainless steel and partly in French oak barrels. Full-bodied and elegant, the wine has a round, almost creamy sur-lie texture, but also a refreshing, very well- integrated acidity. The 2015 has power but also a serious phenolic and mineral grip; it comes along as a persistently aromatic, well balanced Sancerre with well dosed power and lingering fruit flavors. Very nice purity and texture.

It is always exciting to taste the wines from Stéphane and his father Claude Riffault in Sury-en-Vaux, northern Sancerre. On 13.5 hectares of vines (of which three hectares are dedicated to Pinot Noir), they select six different crus according to the geology of each plot, which gives the wines their special character. The white 2015s are enormously clear and pretty fruity, if not charming rather than sophisticated; they should find a great number of devotees easily.”

One of our favorite Sancerre producers and a steal at $21!

2015 Tablas Creek, “Patelin de Tablas” Blanc
Paso Robles, California

93 Points, The Wine Spectator:
“Vibrant and mouthwatering, with green apple, Meyer lemon and dried pineapple favors that are fresh and juicy. Lemon verbena and lime sherbet notes reverberate on the long, detailed finish. Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Roussanne and Marsanne. Drink now.”

91 Points, Wine Enthusiast:
“This blend of 56% Grenache Blanc, 23% Viognier, 12% Roussanne and 9% Marsanne from nine vineyards offers a pretty nose that mixes Key lime, honeydew, just-ripe nectarine and lily florality. It’s bright and fresh on the tightly wound and texturally intriguing sip, with lime pith and lemongrass flavors.”

The Wine Advocate:
“The entry level white is the 2015 Patelin de Tablas Blanc, which is mostly Grenache Blanc, yet incorporates 23% Viognier, 13% Roussanne and 9% Marsanne. Brought up all in stainless steel, it’s a fresh, exotic, medium-bodied effort that gives up lots of Meyer lemon, orange blossom and salty notes. Buy it by the case and enjoy bottles over the coming year or two.”

The perfect white wine for Spring and Summer fare, sipping on the boat, or entertaining friends! Scored over 90 points across the board!

2012 Windracer, Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Sonoma County, California

Winemaker’s Notes:
“Lovely, bright aromas of lemon curd, baked pear, apricot, and jasmine combine with opulent flavors of shortbread, golden plum, marmalade, and vanilla custard to create a round, rich wine with a long finish and generous mouthfeel. The Russian River Valley provides optimal ripening conditions for Chardonnay – warm days and cool nights produce complex and concentrated wines that embrace a higher percentage of sweet, spicy new oak. This is a wine which proudly shows the best of the Russian River Valley.”

Russian River Valley Chardonnay made by Jackson Family Wines. Perfect for any California Chardonnay lover.

Red Wines:

2010 Chateau Lassegue, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Bordeaux, France

93+ Points, The Wine Advocate:
“The 2010 Lassegue possesses an opaque purple color as well as a dense, muscular, masculine style displaying lots of black cherry and black currant fruit intermixed with hints of new oak and graphite. Full-bodied but backward, this cuvee (like most of Seillan’s wines) is built for the long haul. It requires 5-7 years of patience and should last for 20+ years.”

Winemaker’s Note:
“This wine is deep and profound in color, with a beautiful brilliance. The nose reveals very ripe black fruit. In the mouth, power and elegance are intertwined with notes of cassis, black cherry and blackberry balanced by juniper and clove spice and surrounded by illusive minerality.”

2010 is one of the most acclaimed vintages in Bordeaux and this beauty does not disappoint!

2011 Mastrojanni, Brunello di Montalcino
Tuscany, Italy

93 Points, The Wine Advocate:
“Mastrojanni is on a roll. This extraordinary estate has been enjoying the spotlight lately and very much deserves the attention. I’m adding my name to a long list of their fans. The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a classic expression of Sangiovese with soft lines and enduring flavors. You do feel some of the vintage heat, but the ripeness is contained thanks to the delicate and nuanced nature of its fruit. It also shows enormous grace in the mouth. The wine is silky and svelte with long, polished tannins. Mastrojanni’s wines are linked by a common characteristic that is easy to identify in most vintages. That common denominator is excellent oak management.”

We LOVE this producer! Mastrojanni can only make good wine 🙂

2014 Vineyard 29, “Cru” Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California

93 Points, The Wine Advocate:
“The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance other Bordeaux varieties, such as Petit Verdot, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Its sees about 50% new French oak and is a relatively large cuvée of just over 5,500 cases, meant to be drunk in its exuberant youth – the first 8-10 years. The 2014 Cru has turned out every bit as strong as their 2013, which says something. Dense, opaque purple color, wonderfully sweet red and black fruits, an enticing fragrance, silky tannins and a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, with no heaviness or rusticity, are the kind of characteristics that consumers love and will certainly enjoy in this wine that should age effortlessly for at least a decade or more.”

Calling all Napa Valley wine lovers who don’t want to spend their entire life’s savings!

Pre-Sale Price: $46.39

2013 Rodney Strong, Symmetry
Sonoma County, California

91 Points, The Wine Advocate:
“The 2013 Symmetry is a Bordeaux blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec and 4% Merlot. This is a suave, supple-textured wine with sweeter tannin, more forward personality, and loads of red and black currant fruit as well as some licorice and underbrush. It is a beauty. Medium to full-bodied and very elegant, this wine was aged 16 months in 100% French oak prior to being bottled. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.”

2013 Canvasback, Cabernet Sauvignon
Red Mountain, Washington State

92 Points, The Wine Advocate:
“Made by Brian Rudin and a beautiful wine anyway you look at it, the 2013 Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (there’s 9% Merlot and 3% Malbec) is a full-bodied, ripe, layered effort that has terrific notes of loamy earth, truffle, wild herbs and assorted black fruits. Aged 16 months in 40% new oak, from seven different parcels on Red Mountain, it has the fruit and texture to drink nicely today, but will cruise for a decade or more.”

94 Points, Wine & Spirits:
“In its second vintage on Red Mountain, Duckhorn produced a massive cabernet. The initial impression is that it’s so opaque, it won’t be able to get out of its own way. But after just ten minutes it starts to reveal its trajectory, a concentrated, powerful, black-fruited wine adorned with scents of lavender and rosemary – relentless, and yet completely in balance, and years from peak expression. It’s a cabernet to cellar and watch evolve for a decade”

From the fabulous team who brings you Duckhorn, Decoy, Golden Eye and Paraduxx. Meet the newest member of the family…Canvasback.

2013 Carpineta Fontalpino, Chianti Classico
Tuscany, Italy

91 Points, Wine Enthusiast:
“Enticing scents of violet, iris, perfumed red berry and a whiff of cake spice emerge on this vibrant red. The chewy, savory palate has good concentration for the vintage, offering black cherry, ground pepper, clove and licorice. Firm, mature tannins and vibrant acidity provide balance while a mint note backs up the finish.”

Vintage after vintage, a “Best Buy” for the region. Looking for Chianti Classico that is reasonable priced and an excellent representation of the region?

Look no further.

2014 Vina Siegel, “Los Lingues” Cabernet Sauvignon
Colchagua Valley, Chile

91 Points, James Suckling:

Winemaker’s Notes:
“Viña Siegel Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is the result of our family’s continuous search for quality wines with personality which faithfully reflect the best of our terroir. This wine comes from selected grapes from our “Los Lingues” vineyard in Alto Colchagua.

Located in the foothills of the Andes where the influence of the Andean winds result in an elegant Cabernet Sauvignon with great concentration of ripe red fruits, cassis and chocolate, and a balanced, richly structured, long finish.

An intense violet color. Smells of cassis and is complemented with notes of mature red fruit and chocolate. A round and elegant wine with an excellent final persistence.”

2014 Domaine Grand Veneur, “Les Champauvins” Cotes du Rhone
Rhone Valley, France

91 Points, The Wine Advocate:
“What looks to be a beautiful Côtes du Rhône (which should be no surprise coming from this estate), the 2014 Côtes du Rhône Les Champauvins checks in as a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre, from rolled pebble soils, that was aged 70% in stainless steel (Grenache) and 30% in barrel (Syrah and Mourvedre.) Giving up lots of roasted Provençal herbs, garrigue, pepper and currant-like fruit, it is medium to full-bodied, ripe and nicely textured, with impressive purity of fruit. It has outstanding potential and will have a decade of overall longevity.”

Staff and customer favorite producer. You should just buy it. You won’t be disappointed.

Pre-Sale Price: $14.49

2013 Gundlach-Bundschu, Mountain Cuvee
North Coast, California

91 Points, The Wine Advocate:
“The outstanding 2013 Mountain Cuvée Proprietary Red, which is 80.4% Merlot, 17.4% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Malbec, was aged ten months in a combination of new and used oak. The good news is that there were 16,000+ cases of this outstanding wine. Dense purple in color with a big beautiful nose of black cherries, cassis, chocolate and espresso roast, this opaque, full-bodied wine has gorgeous purity, a beautifully layered texture and a heady, rich finish. This is a stunner and quite a steal in the marketplace.”
